Microsuction
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1. How can I prevent ear wax build up?
Some of us produce more wax than others . After microsuction, you can use olive oil drops to keep excess wax at bay.

2. How do I clean my ears?
Most of the time the ear canals are self- cleansing. The wax moves along the ear canal to the ear opening and usually dries, flakes and falls out of the ear mostly by jaw movement. If you must clean your ears, you should wash the outside of your ear with a warm facecloth over your finger. Do not push the the cloth into your ear.

3. What should I do if my ears feel blocked?
First of all, you should never use your finger , cotton buds or other objects to get the wax out. This can cause the wax to be pushed down the ear canal and therefore damaging the ear drum. Olive oil is recommended to soften the wax. ( If you have a perforation (hole) in your ear drum, do not use ear drops). Large amounts of wax will need to be removed by microsuction . Ear wax removal services on the NHS have now been removed. But do not worry, help is round the corner. Do call me or fill in the form should you require microsuction and I will get back to you within 24 hours.

4. Is microsuction painful?
Microsuction is relatively pain-free. A slight suction is felt when using the probe tube. If the wax is hard, I advise to soften the wax with olive oil drops ( 2-3) for 3-5 days before the appointment, making it easier to remove the wax.

5. Can microsuction be done if I have a perforation? ( tear/hole in the eardrum).
As this process requires no water , it is the safest procedure as it will keep the ear canal dry.

6. Do you see children?
Yes. Children from the age of 5+. To find out more, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
